Shoaib has several years of experience from industry, academia and entrepreneurship. He’s an expert in artificial intelligence (AI) and adaptive systems, having developed mission-critical AI systems for defense contractors such as Northrop Grumman, L3Harris and Lockheed Martin. He’s also worked with multiple hedge fund startups in the FinTech space for developing and deploying predictive trading algorithms. While in academia, Dr. Shaikh conducted research on autonomous vehicles (AVs), smart infrastructure and optimal highway utilization with AVs. He also mentored several engineering and technology teams, several of which have won entrepreneurship awards.
His current research interests include quantum and neuromorphic computing, AI governance and safety, and human/ethical-centered system design. He holds a doctorate in Operations Research from Florida Institute of Technology, where he also received his master’s degree in System Engineering. Dr. Shaikh is fluent in English, Urdu and Hindi.
