Jane Sadd Smalec is an independent consultant and also a faculty member at two universities: American University where she teaches graduate level classes in strategic thinking and in management consulting, and at the University of Maryland Global Campus where she teaches a graduate class in Financial Decision Making.

Earlier in her career Jane was the Chief Administrative Officer or Chief Financial Officer for a number of for-profit higher education businesses and was part of the management team that scaled Kaplan University from 20 students to 20,000 students over four years. Jane began her career in the United States as a consultant with McKinsey & Company and has worked in several different industries including data communications and information services. Her expertise lies in strategic planning, financial management, market research, and in scaling business operations. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Doctor of Management degree from the University of Maryland University College.
