What’s Next for Tampa Bay’s Growing Cybersecurity Ecosystem

Tampa Bay’s cybersecurity community is entering an important period of growth.
Across the region, founders, researchers, practitioners and industry partners are building stronger connections and creating new opportunities for cybersecurity companies to grow. That momentum is helping strengthen Tampa Bay’s reputation as “Cyber Bay,” creating more reasons for founders to build in the area.
October’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a timely moment to look at where that momentum is headed. With the next CyberTech|X Accelerator on the horizon and the Cyber Bay Summit returning in March, the coming months will offer a closer look at how Tampa Bay’s cybersecurity ecosystem is continuing to develop.
As SafeHill CEO and co-founder Mike Pena, a member of this year’s CyberTech|X Accelerator cohort, put it:
“Cybersecurity innovation doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when leaders, researchers and practitioners come together to exchange ideas and challenge each other,” Pena said. “Tampa Bay has earned its reputation as ‘Cyber Bay’ by becoming a hub for those conversations, and we’re excited to establish a presence here and be part of that community.”
The Next CyberTech|X Cohort Takes Shape
At Tampa Bay Wave, we’ve seen that potential firsthand through the CyberTech|X Accelerator, which supports innovative cybersecurity startups as they build relationships, sharpen their strategies and prepare for growth.
The 2027 CyberTech|X Accelerator begins in February 2027, and applications are open now.

“Tampa Bay’s cybersecurity ecosystem continues to gain momentum because we have founders, industry leaders and partners who understand the value of building strong connections across the region,” said Linda Olson, CEO and founder of Tampa Bay Wave. “Cybersecurity Awareness Month is an important reminder of the challenges ahead, but it also highlights the opportunity Tampa Bay has to help develop and scale the companies creating solutions for those challenges.”
The Cyber Community Comes Together in March
Another important piece of Tampa Bay’s cybersecurity landscape returns in the spring when the Cyber Bay Summit returns March 22-24, 2027.
Gatherings like the Cyber Bay Summit matter because strong technology ecosystems depend on connection. Bringing founders, practitioners, researchers, investors and other leaders into the same conversations creates opportunities for new relationships and ideas to take shape.

From Cyber Awareness to Cyber Leadership
Cybersecurity Awareness Month puts the focus on the challenges ahead. Tampa Bay’s opportunity is to play a larger role in developing the companies working to solve them.
With CyberTech|X preparing for its next cohort and the Cyber Bay Summit returning in March, the region has concrete opportunities to deepen its cybersecurity expertise, support more founders and strengthen the networks that help companies grow here.
The next test is turning that activity into lasting strength for Tampa Bay’s cybersecurity ecosystem.
