A Little About the Wave
Tampa Bay Wave is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to help local entrepreneurs build, launch, and grow breakout tech companies in Tampa Bay Wave measures its results in terms of impact metrics, rather than profits. With the Wave Accelerator Program and Venture Center, Tampa Bay Wave provides tech startups with educational resources, flexible office space, mentorship, and strategic introductions to help them accelerate business growth. Launched in June 2008, Tampa Bay Wave supports over 100 early-stage tech firms today from the initial development stage to the point where they become second stage companies. Wave takes no equity from the startups it serves.
The Venture Center is Tampa Bay Wave’s 10,000 square foot innovative coworking and incubation space located in the heart of downtown Tampa. Home to nearly two dozen tech startups and dozens of crazy tech-talented coworkers, the Venture Center is an integral part of Tampa Bay’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

As the current President and founder of Tampa Bay Wave, Linda has grown this non-profit to over 100 early-stage technology ventures and over 250 entrepreneurs and techies in under 5 years. In 2012, she led a regional effort that was awarded a $1million federal grant from the US Department of Commerce to launch the FirstWave Accelerator program and an open innovation space in downtown Tampa called the FirstWave Venture Center. Since its launch in March 2013, companies in FirstWave have raised over $8.4 million in early stage investment capital and have created and retained over 200 jobs for the region.
The addition of Mrs. Stinson to Tampa Bay Wave is yet another in a series of strategic additions to The Wave organization. With her tremendous network and strategic leadership, Avril assists The Wave in attracting the resources needed to continue building an organization that will help Tampa Bay’s tech startup ecosystem realize our vision of a world-class accelerator and other services that will help The Wave grow a critical mass of exciting, job-creating, and fundable tech startups right here in Tampa Bay.
Rich Heruska is a Serial Entrepreneur and Founder of numerous Consumer Facing Brands. Mostrecently, Rich sold his growing chain of Family Entertainment and Recreation Centers, AirHeadsTrampoline Arena.
Shane is a veteran of nearly 18 years in the advertising and marketing industry. He is a progressive, driven and technical professional with a focus on service leadership and innovation. Shane brings his experience and skills to Tampa Bay Wave as a mentor, Board member and interim Director of Communications.
Basha is committed to executing successful events by being organized and communicating effectively with clients and vendors.I have proven ability to balance priorities, meet tight deadlines, and produce quality results. I have been recognized for thriving in fast-paced environments and working well under pressure which I think is key quality in this industry.
