Startup Surge Mentor – Jim Gossett

October 17, 2016

Known throughout the business community for his ability to rebuild and reorganize challenged companies into efficient, high-performance organizations, Jim Gossett is the next mentor we will be featuring for our upcoming Startup Surge.

Gossett has received an undergraduate degree in Information Systems and Finance from the University of Wisconsin as well as an MBA from the University of South Florida. Along with these degrees, Jim has received the distinguished rank of a Six Sigma Black Belt for his abilities and achievements in business.

During the “dot com” boom, Jim worked with leading technology start-ups and early adopters of the first B2B e-commerce technology as a Director with Ariba – an SAP company, the leading provider of collaborative business commerce solutions and SaaS technology. He also served as the VP, Product Development and Solutions Delivery for the Screening Division of First Advantage, a global provider analytics and business intelligence, and background screening services.

While Jim has a full-time job as COO and CTO for a risk mitigation services company in Houston, he understands the need to give back and help cultivate growth in the business and social communities he is involved in. Gossett serves on the board of the Computers Mentors Group, Tampa Bay Wave and the Tampa Police Athletic League while also mentoring accelerators with Tampa Bay Wave and the USF Connect Technology Incubator.

For having a vast depth of knowledge on the business world, Gossett tends to focus on four specific main points: 1. Creating and maintaining client relationships 2. Understanding the need to rebuild operational and technological teams 3. Creation of scalable process infrastructure 4. Implementation of agile development methodologies. These tactics have led Jim to compile a 98% client retention with Global 100 companies.

Get to meet Jim and get to hear more from him during Tampa Bay Wave Startup Surge on November 17th.
